Thank you

Greystanes Disability Services extends heartfelt gratitude to the many volunteers who dedicate their time and expertise to support our programs and our fundraising and events. Thank you to all our donors. Your generous contributions make a significant difference in the lives of the people Greystanes supports.

A special thank you to Blue Mountains Grammar, the Leura Gardens Festival Committee, Margot Egan, the Bannerman Trust, and the Misty Mountain Quilters for their invaluable support in 2023/2024.

A purple and silver mobile hoist stands in a hallway decorated with bunting at the Leura Community Centre. Thanks to generous donations from the Leura Gardens Festival Committee and Margot Egan, Greystanes was able to purchase this hoist and defibrillators to support people at the Centre and in houses across the Mountains and Jamisontown.
A treadmill and stationary bike set up in a bright room with colorful wall art, part of a new gymnasium at the Leura Community Centre. This dedicated space was made possible by the Sylvia Bannerman Trust to support the health and wellbeing of people at Greystanes Disability Services.

The generous donations from the Leura Gardens Festival Committee and Margot Egan allowed Greystanes to purchase a mobile hoist and defibrillators for the Leura Community Centre and the houses in the Mountains and Jamisontown.

The Blue Mountains Grammar donation was allocated to the maintenance of our gardens and the painting of the common areas of the houses.

The Sylvia Bannerman Trust enabled us to establish a dedicated gymnasium for the people we support at the Leura Community Centre.

Fundraising

Donations help us to enhance everyday life in meaningful ways

Greystanes Disability Services is a true community organisation, it has supported and advocated for the most vulnerable people in the Blue Mountains for over 65 years. We honour this legacy and are committed to upholding the rights of people with disability and ensuring that they live a fair and good life.

The NDIS has changed the funding landscape of not-for-profit disability services providers like Greystanes. The NDIS has created a system based on a 2% surplus margin for NDIS Providers. With this 2% surplus, we need to cover staff training, support for families, maintenance of community buildings and equipment, garden maintenance and more. Your volunteering, in-kind, gifts, donations or bequests make a big difference in the quality of life of the most vulnerable people.

All donations are tax-deductible. We accept EFT or credit card

In-Kind Donations

Greystanes are always appreciative of any in-kind donations of goods or services. With consent, we like to publicly acknowledge and thank all individuals and organisations for their kindness and generosity.

HYDROTHERAPY SPA FUNDRAISER

In 2024/2025, we began fundraising to replace our hydrotherapy pool at the Leura Community Centre, creating a space that will benefit both the people we support and the wider community. Currently, those in our care must travel over an hour to St Mary’s to access suitable hydrotherapy, as they are not eligible to use the Katoomba Hydrotherapy Pool.

A new, purpose-built pool in Leura would provide vital therapeutic support, improving mobility, reducing pain, and enhancing overall well-being. It would also be an invaluable resource for the local community, offering access to warm water therapy for people of all abilities.

Your donation will help us make this vision a reality—bringing hydrotherapy closer to home and ensuring everyone has access to the care they need.

Gardening

Gardening gives us a sense of place and perspective. Greystanes invites the community to help maintain the gardens at 2 Grose Street Leura or our community homes in the Blue Mountains.

Help us prepare 2 Grose Street Leura to be a future entrant for the Leura Gardens Festival as an accessible garden with sensory zones.

HANGING OUT PROGRAM (HOP)*

Sometimes adults with severe intellectual disabilities end up on the edge of interactions. Their unique needs in interactions mean they can miss out on the company they need. The HOP or the Hanging Out Program is a simple approach to ensure people do not miss out. It is both an approach and an attitude for being with people.

If spending 10 minutes or more interacting with a person, and giving them 100% of your attention sounds like something you would like to do, please reach out to us. Activities would vary from person to person. To find out more call Vanessa on 0439 990 249 or email vbalfour@greystanes.org.au.
