“Greystanes is worlds apart from other disability services we’ve tried. The kindness and warmth of the staff, and the caring environment they create, make all the difference. Their genuine commitment to the people they support shines through every day.”

Home and Living

GDS provides NDIS Supported Independent Living (SIL) support for participants to live in their own home or a shared home.

This could include:

  • Support with daily tasks like cooking, cleaning, and personal care
  • Support in the community
  • Staff available for overnight for active nights or sleepover shifts
  • Staff are highly skilled and experienced support workers who are trained in the NDIS-High Intensity Supports (complex personal and health-related supports for participants with advanced disability and health needs). Such as complex bowel care, enteral feeding, dysphagia support and seizure support. Please call us to discuss other NDIS High Intensity supports if needed.
Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) GDS owns two SDA homes in the upper Blue Mountains. Currently, there are no vacancies at these properties.
Short Term Accommodation (STA) – GDS currently offers short-term accommodation in the legacy stock group homes, with the approval of the people who live at the house.

COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION AND CENTRE BASED ACTIVITIES

A woman is supporting another woman in a wheelchair. They are in a library.

Support can happen in our Day Program, in the community, or at home — whatever works best for the participant. The principles of person-centred active support are used throughout our services.  This means we support participants in a way that suits their needs with the use of graded assistance to ensure success.

The GDS Day Program is based at the Leura Community Centre. This service allows the participant to connect with others, explore their interests, plan their own day or have a fixed activity, and be supported in a fully accessible building. The building is located in beautiful Leura with a large courtyard for participants and visitors to enjoy.

There is a choice of group activities or one-on-one support. Activities include arts and crafts, sewing, games, visiting art galleries, personal shopping, library, cooking, bowling, and social events.

Please call us on 0477 605 303 for more information or to organise a tour of the Day Program at Leura.
