Thank you Community Bendigo Bank for your support

Peter Carroll and Brooke Broughton, members of the Katoomba Bendigo Community Bank attended and handed a large cheque to Stuart Jackson, Alex Ringland, Robert Tinsey CEO and Alexis Viles, Vice Chair of the Greystanes Board. Alex made a speech at the barbecue proudly declaring that this was his home, followed by a loud round of applause from those assembled for the official house opening. Peter Carroll; Sponsorship Committee Chair; 'Our Bendigo Community Bank in Katoomba is proud to be associated with such worthwhile projects like this that give hope and support to our most disadvantaged community members'.

The house in Katoomba is a new service model for Greystanes. The residents of the new house have attended the day options program for many years and are now ready to become more independent by moving from their family homes into their own home. Greystanes Disability Services staff will support them to live safely and independently as possible through the NDIS Supported Independent Living funding. This is all about improving the quality of our people’s lives.

Installation of solar power will reduce energy costs and enable us to have power when there are power outages. This will help decrease anxiety levels caused by blackouts. The plan is that this will be their home for the next chapter in their life, somewhere their parents know that they will be supported to live independently as possible in the Blue Mountains community where they have grown up and it will allow them to continue to build social relationships in their local community.
